While everyone else is happy and so pleased with the good fortune that Chester has brought, Chester realizes how unhappy he is. He is tired, and he doesn't like people staring at him. He becomes frightened of the people, and starts to hide in his matchbox when he isn't playing. When a leaf blows into the station (from New Jersey!), Chester is reminded of home. As I was reading this chapter, I could really feel how sad Chester was, and how homesick he is becoming.
Once a country cricket, always a country cricket. I wonder what Chester will do?
