As Tucker settles into the cage to sleep, Chester prefers the simple matchbox. He is used to tree stumps and holes in the ground, so I wonder if the matchbox just feels more like home to him.
We also learn at the end of the chapter, that Chester Cricket is beginning to enjoy life in New York. His new friends Tucker, Harry Cat, and Mario, of course, are helping him to adjust to life in the big city.
One thing I have really loved about this book, are the illustrations. The illustrator, Garth Williams, has illustrated lots of other books you may know....Stuart Little, Charlotte's Web, and the Little House series, to name a few.

There is also a new video on our FUN LINKS TO EXPLORE tab all about the life and work of Garth Williams.
Questions for thought:
Our main characters all seem quite happy right now. What could spoil the happy time for the three friends?
What has been your favorite illustration, so far? Tell us the page number, and describe the scene that is being illustrated. Why is this your favorite illustration?
Super work everyone!
Happy Reading!
